Given:  Supriya kept a laboratory thermometer P, 10cm away on one side of the flame and her friend Rita kept a thermometer Q, 10 cm above the flame

To find: In which of the thermometers, P or Q, the rise in temperature will be faster?

Solution:

  • Now we have given two thermometer, who are measuring the temperature.
  • Now we have given that Q is above the flame which means Q is in direct contact with air.
  • Since it is in direct contact of air so air is already warmed.
  • So, the temperature of Q will be higher than that of P.
  • As we also know that temperature is the basic system of measuring the heat, so thats why the area which is more warm will have high temperature than as compare to the area having less warm.

Answer:

So, the temperature of Q will be higher than that of P.
