She bought the scooty for 10, 347.83 units (approx)

Given

  • Surbhi sells a scooty for 11,900 units
  • She loses 15% in the bargain

To Find

The price at which she bought the scooty.

Solution

Here,

The price at which Surbhi sold the scooty, i.e the Selling Price = 11, 900 units.

Loss percentage = 15%

Now, Loss percent = loss/Cost Price X 100

= (Cost Price - Selling Price)/Cost Price X 100

Let the Cost Price be x

Since,

(x - Selling Price)/x X 100 = 15

or, (x- 11900)/x = 0.15

or, x - 11900 = 0.15x

or, 1.15x = 11900

or, x = 11900/1.15

or, x = 10, 347.83 units (approx)

Therefore, she bought the scooty for 10, 347.83 units (approx)
