Sushil got thrice as many marks in English as in Science. His total marks in English, Science and Maths are 162. If the ratio of his marks in English and Maths is 3:5, find his marks in Science?

let,

common fcator be x

then,

marks in english will be 3x and marks in maths will be 5x

now,

1/3 of marks secured in english i.e marks in science is 1/3*3x=x

again,

ATQ

x+3x+5x=162

9x=162

x=162/9

x=18

therefore, marks secured in science is 18
