1. For the plantation workers in Assam, it was the right to move freely

from the enclosed spaces they were in and being able to connect to their villages. 

2. Through the Inland Emigration Act(1859), they were rarely given

permission to get out of the tea plantations. 

3. When they heard of non-cooperation, they left these plantations and

thought that Gandhi would give them land.

4. Alas! they could never reach their destination as they were caught up

by police in Midway and were beaten up badly.
