Correct answer: Responding to the environment

Animal need to maintain internal body temperature of body such as temperature, blood flow and body fluid by the process called as homeostasis. In order to maintain homeostasis the blood vessels of the body dilates to so that more blood can flow to the  body where it can be dispersed.

Human body maintains a normal temperature of 98.6 degree Fahrenheit. To maintain this normal temperature human body react involuntary with different behaviors. It sweats during summer and shivers during winter.

Example: Dogs maintain their internal temperature by panting. Since dog do not have the ability to sweat like humans, so they pant in order cool off. This is a physical way of regulating internal temperature, which prevents them from overheating.

"Sweating and panting are characteristics of responding to the environment.

This occurs due to the need of the body to maintain a constant temperature or homeostasis.

To, remove excess heat, there is dilation of blood vessels which leads to more blood flow to the given area and thus dispersal of heat from that area via blood and sweat.

Dogs maintain their temperature through panting as they do not sweat as humans do.
