Application of linear equation in one variable.

Answer: Cost of each table = 400

Explanation:

Given that cost price of table is 200 more than the chair.

Also price of two tables and 3 chair = 1400.

Need to find the cost of each table.

lets assume the cost of 1 table be represented by variable x.

As table cost 200 more that chair , so cost of 1 chair = cost of 1 table - 200

=> cost of 1 chair = x - 200

cost of two tables = 2 × cost of 1 table = 2x

cost of 3 chairs = 3 × cost of 1 chair = 3 × ( x - 200 ) = 3x - 600

As cost of two tables + cost of 3 chairs  = 1400

=>  2x + (3x - 600) = 1400

=> 5x - 600 = 1400

=> 5x = 1400 + 600

=> x = 2000/5 = 400.

Hence cost of each table = x = 400
