Taxshashila university, the world’s first university was established about 2700 years ago in 500-600 BC in the Gandharan civilization which is now a day a part of Pakistan.

There is no clear evidence that who founded the university in, but according to one of the references of Ramadan, King Bharat named it after his son Taksha the town.

It is difficult to pinpoint the specific personality who aided in building the world’s first university, but in all probabilities, it was founded during the Mauryan period.
