Explanation

The Tincture of Iodine reacts with a given amount of Groundnut oil which gives Colored to Colorless solution. Iodine is a Strong reducing agent. Iodine will react with the unsaturated fats in the form of Double bond present in the oil which gives some Iodine value. Mostly Iodine value is used to determine the Degree of Unsaturation of fatty acids in the oil.
