Take a plastic comb and rub it onto your dry hair for about a minute.

 Bring the rubbed comb near tiny pieces of paper as shown in figure. You will

notice that pieces of paper are attracted toward the comb.

Now answer the following questions:

(a) What kind of force is present between comb and pieces of paper? Explain (2)

(b) Is this type of force is always attractive or repulsive. Explain the cases. (2)

(c) What will happen if the distance between the charges it reduced? (2)

(d) Is this force contact force or non-contact force? (1)

1. Magnetic force :- This happens because when comb is rubbed with hair there occurs a transfer of electrons from hair to the comb. Thus the comb gets negatively charged,when the charged comb is brought near the bits of paper it attracts the positive part of it.

(a) the force which acts here to attract paper is elelctroststic force of extraction . this happens because by rubbing charge get formed on the comb . as the nature it will attract any opposite charged particles , hence,,it will attract the paper.
