My favourite story is "Araby" by James Joyce. It was published in the story collection, "Dubliners".
Explanation:
1. A boy enter a dead priest's home and he goes from one room to another.
2. He finds old books with yellow pages and rusty bicycle under a tree.
3. Then he goes out to play with his friends outside and see his friend's sister.
4. He likes her so he keeps looking for her.
5. She makes the narrator promised her that he will bring her something from the Bazzar in Araby.
6. He waits for his uncle to come home to get money. He wants to visit the bazzar.
7. He is impatient and worried that he doesn't get to go to the market.
8. Someone shows up at their house and talks with his aunt.
9. His uncle comes at 9 o'clock at night and after a heated while, he gives him the money.
10. The narrator catches the last train to the market and goes there.
11. But the market is closed and he struggles to go in. But he does.
12. Finally he does not buy anything and return home.
