Taking moon's period of revolution about the earth as 30 days calculate its distance from the earth.
(G = 6.7 × 10^-11)
mass of earth = 6×10^24kg

Final Answer should be :- 4.8×10^5

The Kepler's law of planetary motion says,

T^2= 4π^2 R^3/GM

Where T is the time period of revolution, R is the radius of moon's orbit, M is the mass of the planet (Earth), G is the universal gravitational constant.

We have,

T = 30 days = 2592000 s

G = 6.67 X 10-11 N(m/kg)2

M = 5.97 X 10-24 kg

Therefore,

2592000^2= 4*3.14^2 *R^3/6.67*10^-11 * 5.97*10^24

R=4.8*10^5
