HELLO....

At first if metal react with oxygen then it will form metal oxide...

*Metal oxides are basic in nature....

if Magnesium will react with oxygen then it will form magnesium oxide..

2Mg+O2------->2MgO

When non-metal react with oxygen then it will form non metallic oxide...

*Non -metal oxides are acidic in nature....

S+O2-------->SO2....

Hope this will help u...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
✴HOW DO METALS AND NON METALS REACT WITH OXYGEN ✴
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

✨Metals react with Oxygen to form a metal oxide . Taking example of magnesium ,

2 Mg + O2 --------------------------------------------------- 2 MgO.

✴Magnesium reacts with Oxygen forming magnesium oxide that represents table salt .

✴Metal oxides are BASIC in nature .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

✨Non metals react with oxygen to form a non metal oxide .

Taking example of sulphur ,

S + O2--------------------------------------------------- SO2

Sulphur reacts with Oxygen forming sulphur dioxide.

✴Non metals Oxide are ACIDIC In nature .
