You: Dear father, kindly tell me about the life 50 years ago. Was it as good as the current life?
Father: The general quality life was better. There was not as much pollution, degradation, and deterioration of the natural environment and resources. There was less smoke and smog in the atmosphere. Global warming had not become such an unmanageable problem. Forests had not been cut so much! World population explosion had not affected the beauty and purity of life so much.
You: Kindly tell me more; it is sounding so interesting!
Father: The natural beauty had not been eclipsed by urbanization and industrialization. Brooks, rills, rivers and streams flowed down the slopes merrily! There were green meadows, pastures and terraced fields in plenty! The pure blue sky with cotton-like cirrus flitting merrily high above looked so beautiful! The canker of industrialization had not converted the once heaven like towns and cities into hell. The sylvan beauty, for which now we go to hill stations, had not been replaced by factories and mills. The skyline dominated by tall pines had not been replaced by an ugly sight of stacks spewing toxic fumes!
You: Wow! Tell me something about the people.
Mother: People lived more peacefully. Cultural, family and ethical values were more prevalent. People were not so materialistic. People believed in principles and ideals of the great leaders and freedom fighters and endeavored to practice their teachings. On the other hand, people in the cities have become more lazy and dependent on gadgets. As a consequence, their health, immunity, and endurance have been adversely affected.
You: Father, it means the contemporary city life has no advantage, does it?
Father: Well, the modern city life has some advantages over the past life. The modern cities are technologically more advanced, sophisticated, and equipped with better life facilities and infrastructure. There are many advanced schools, colleges, hospitals, and universities. The Information Technology Revolution had not affected the world so much.
You: I think we should blend the purity and peace of the past with the modern, technologically advanced life in order to live happily.
Upon asking by me he told that previously before 50 years ago the life in this city we are living was so calm and relaxed there was not any population rush and also it was free from vehicles unpleasant and continues song . While these things are reality of present city.
He also told me that as compared to today the life in city was easier and there was also no trace of pollution in the environment while now a day pollution is become a common problem of every place.
On continue the talking i asked about the technology of that years he answered that city was not so developed and advanced as compared to today. Even there was not so much hospitals in the city as compared to number of hospitals of today.
