Madness related to Lunar is totally working on the human perception that leads to various myths, most of them are quite famous. There are lots of things that made people made go crazy.
Let's talk about full moon first, it's well known by our ancestors that women are more fertile during a full moon or in simple more birth occur during full moon period. But scientists don't support this theory (myth) even a bit.
Probably people are likely to think of it because of co-relations found between reproduction cycles of corals after a full moon occurs. 
The major problem with all these theories which surrounds moon and the lunar effect is that there occurs no consistency.
One of the terrible misconceptions is related to the homicide that occurs with the full moon. Human beings turn into ferocious beasts by moonlight sounds really crazy, etc.
