From 1789-1832, the Tamar tribe revolted seven times opposing the . British. The Tribal of nearby areas such as Koelpur, Midnapur, Chatshila, Dhadha, Silli, & Jalda joined them in the rebellion. They had revolted against alignment govt system. Bhola Nath Sahay of Tamar led the Tamar uprisings.

They decided not to leave a single foreigner live in their land. The Suds and the dikus were assassinated, plundered and their homes burnt down in each village.
