Psychology, asked by ramshaamir2000, 4 months ago

Taniya is your college friend and you people are still in touch after the completion of college. You have always been inspired by her dedicated and ambitious nature. She started to work in very early age, she was just 18 when she got a very good opportunity to work in multinational company. One evening she calls you and you found her very nervous. After quick greetings, she asks you to help her to solve an issue which she is unable to do on her own. She called you only because she knows that you are doing a degree in psychology from a well reputed university and she hopes that you can help her.

She states that she was very happy at her work for last five years but now she remains uncomfortable in her office. She adds that she is afraid of her immediate boss who might have developed sexual interest in her and now giving signs to her to have a relationship. He is very subtle in his moves so she is scared of whistle blowing because she doesn’t have much evidence to report her case in grievance committee. She don’t want to share this issue with any family member because family may suggest her to leave the job and that she don’t want to happen. She is very attached with her organization.

She is not sure whether she needs professional help or not. She has an organizational psychologist at workplace but she is afraid of sharing with her as the issue is concerned with workplace. Sometimes she thinks that as this is professional problem so he must consult organizational psychologist but other times she feels that she needs to approach mental health counsellor. Recently, she also thought to go to clinical psychologist because sometimes her anxiety level increases so high that she has started self-medication and stated talking a medication that calms mind.

Now after telling all this to you, she is asking for your advice.

Explanation:

1.I will ask her about the evidences she has against her boss to prove him wrong

Also, I will ask her from how long is it happening?

2.I will suggest her to think calmly and discuss this with only people you trust

I would suggest her to consult a councilor instead of self medication
