In 1 hour tap A can fill the tank by 1/24 part.

In 1 hour tap B can fill the tank by 1/48 part.

So, In 1 hour (A+B) can fill the tank by 1/24 + 1/48 = (4+2)/56 = 6/56 part.

So, the tank can be filled in 56/6 = 9 hours and 20 minutes when both pipe A and pipe B are open.
