And

second tap can empty the tank in

1.5 hours = 90 minutes

amount of emptied tank by second tap

in one minute = ( 1/90 ) of the tank

now,

if both the taps are opened then the

amount of tank filled in one minute

1/30 - 1/90 = [ 3 - 1 ] / 90 = 2/90 = 1/45

Hence time taken to fill the tank when

both the taps are open in 45 minutes.

According to question

if they are opened at 11 : 40 am

then the tank will be filled at

11 : 40 + 45 = 12 : 25 pm.
