The Tapi River or the Taptee river is one of the major peninsular rivers in Central India, that flows from east to the west, with the Mahi river and the Narmada river on either side.

With a stretch of almost about 724 km, the Tapi river arises from the eastern portion of the Satpura Mountain ranges in the southern Madhya Pradesh and moves subsequently to the west, by irrigating along the Nimar province in Madhya Pradesh, Kandesh in Maharashtra, and a few parts of eastern Vidarbha in the northwestern end of the Deccan Plateau and southern part of Gujarat.

The Tapi river finally ends its itinerary and pours into the Arabian Sea at the Gulf of Cambay in Surat, Gujarat.
