Taps A, B and C can fill a tank in 6 hours, 8 hours and 12 hours, respectively
. Tap D
can empty out the tank in 4 hours. The four taps, A, B, C and D, are allowed to run
for 4 hours, after which Tap D is closed. How long will it take for the 3 taps to fill the
ining tank?​

Tap D  can empty in 4 hrs

IN 4 HR THE TANK LEVEL

=4/6+4/8+4/12-4/4

=1/24( 16+12+8-24)

=1/24( 36-24)

=12/24=1/2

SO 1/2 TANK IS FILLED

tank filled by three taps in 1 hr

=4/6+4/8+4/12

=1/24( 16+12+8)=36/24=3/2

so time taken to fill 1/2 part of tank

=(1/2)/3/2

=1/2*2/3

=1/3 hr =60/3= 20 minutes
