I got 2400 pages but I'm not 100% sure

If he read 3/8 of the book so there is 5/8 left of the book. So it he read 4/5 of the remaining and 30 was left. It would be 30x8=240

singhri18: would u like to explain it more ?
singhri18: clearly?
imjustaperson01: well it kinda hard because i draw a picture with it
imjustaperson01: but ill try
imjustaperson01: I drew a rectangle and split it in to 8 smaller rectangles
imjustaperson01: I shaded three and I saw that 5 were unshaded because ofcs 8-3=5
imjustaperson01: then when it said 4/5 pages were read on the next day so I ignore the 3 shaded rectangles for now
imjustaperson01: I see 5 left and then shade in 4
imjustaperson01: the last small rectangle was the last one unshaded so I knew that it was the 30 remaining. All of the rectangles were the same so I then 30x8 to get 240
imjustaperson01: Hope you understand

Answer:

Let the total pages be 'x' in number.

According to condition 1:

3/8*x read on first day.

So remaining pages will be :

1-3/8*x

=5/8*x

According to condition 2:

Read 4/5 of remaining

So left unread =1/5 of remaining

Therefore remaining at last=1/5 * 5/8*x

=1/8x

Unread=30

Therefore:1/8*x = 30

>> X=240.

Therefore total page is240
