Change the following statements into indirect speech. The first one has been done for you.
a Hina said to Mother, I like my new teacher
Hina told her mother that she likad her new teacher.
b. Farid said. "We must try to help the children living in the slums
c. Mani said to his neighbour. We need to clean up the area around our house."
d. The teacher said, 'Children, I am going to give you a surprise test right now."
e Sara said to her sports trainer, 'I will not be able to attend the football training camp this year​

Ex:- He said , "I am busy now".

★The speakers were directed by someone in his or her words.

★Since the exact words of the speaker not reproduced the inverted commas are removed.

★The introductory verb is said or told

The meaning of the substance of the speakers word is called Indirect speech.

Ex:- He said he was busy then.

★ The exact words of the speaker are repeated.

★ The words of the speaker and enclosed within inverted commas.

★The introductory verb is said .

Note:-

• When the given sentence is universal fact then the sentence can't be changed.

Ex:- The sun rises in the east.

Rules for changing direct speech into indirect speech:'

★ The inverted commas are omitted in the direct speech .

★ The tense of the reporting verb should never be changed.

★ We use linker before the Indirect speech.

★ The first letter with an inverted commas will not remind capital in the invited speech .

★ The pronoun should be changed according to the sense of speech.

Examples :-

✨He said, "I do it."

He said that he did it.

✨The boy will say, "I am busy."

The boy will say that he is busy.

✨The officer shouted to his man, "Halt!"

The officer ordered his man to halt

• Direct speech includes the actual or real words spoken by the speaker in quotation marks

• Indirect speech has many modifications.

• Usually , the fact is that a mixture of direct and indirect narrations in the writings bring up extra attention of the readers.

• But , we must use them wisely as the entire writing doesn't look nice if you write continuously in one narration.

• Indirect speech witnesses a change in the tense.

• Simple Present - Simple Past.

• Present Continuous - Past Continuous.

• Present Perfect - Past perfect continuous , and so on !!.

• All you have to do is keep aware of the tense formats and use them accordingly

• If the reporting verb is in the present or future tense, the tense of the verb isn't changed in the indirect speech.

• All the tenses of the direct speech are converted to the past tense in the indirect speech, but if the sentence is already in past tense, it turns to past perfect tense.

• If the person addressed to, reports the speech, the second person in the direct speech becomes first person in the indirect speech.
