As a result of the recent labor reforms, the hourly wages of daily laborers were increased by 12.5%
Additionally, weekly work hours were decreased by 8%. Before the reforms, an unskilled laborer used
to get $1,200 for 50 hours of work in a week. What will be the change in his earnings per week after
the reforms?​

To Find : What will be the change in his earnings per week after

the reforms?​

Solution:

unskilled laborer used  to get $1,200 for 50 hours of work in a week.

=> Hourly Rate = 1200/50 = 24 $ per hr

hourly wages of daily laborers were increased by 12.5%

New Rate = 24 + (12.5/100)24

= 24 + 3

= 27  $ per hr

weekly work hours were decreased by 8%.

=> weekly work hours in week = 50 - (8/100)50  =  

= 50 - 4

= 46 Weeks

Earning in week = 27 * 46  = 1242 $

Changes in Earning = 1242 - 2000 = 42 %

Increase of 42 $ earning in week

% increase = (42/1200) * 100 = 3.5 %

change in earnings per week after  the reforms = 3.5 %
