Copper sulphate can be obtained from an impure sample by crystallisation. The impurities will remain in the mother liquor whereas the pure copper sulphate will crystallize out.

➢ Filter the solution to remove impurities.
➢ Heat the copper sulphate solution on water bath.
➢ When small crystals form on glass rods, stop heating.

➢ Crystals of pure copper sulphate are formed.
➢ Separate the copper sulphate crystals by filtration and dry.
