Teenagers prayer is a guiding light which teaches the do's and don'ts for youth.

In this poem the teenager asks for the company of honest friends who will keep him aware of his mistakes and encourage him to do good things.

He also asks for good health, little bit of money and opportunities to grow and succeed in the future.

He also asks God to protect him from evil ways of the world which will send him into a world of darkness.

"A Teenager's Prayer' is a poem by "J. Morse" that can be accepted as the universal prayer song for all teenagers irrespective of their religion, caste or creed, or country. The poet conveys the poem's central theme through a prayer song by a teenager who prays about how a teenager should choose his/her path of life righteously during their teenage to grow into a "responsible adult". The poem reflects the life of a teenager and how they are at a vulnerable period of their lives and how the decisions they take as a teenager is vital to their life.

Since the poem addresses teenagers, it is written in a simple yet powerful language that can be easily understood. The poet has constructed the poem interestingly with an 'abcb' rhyming pattern, with rhyming words like make-take, success-distress. The poet utilizes metaphors throughout that imply philosophy like, 'open up my eyes' where he refers to the eye of the mind and not the actual eye.

My favourite lines are: "bring out the best in me", "please open up my eyes". "
