टेलिफोन दूर सञ्चारको एक आधुनिक यन्त्र हो । यसको माध्यमले टाढा टाढाका मानिषहरू एक अर्का सँग कुरा-कानी गर्न सक्षम हुन्छन् । यो यन्त्र तारसँग जोडिएको हुन्छ । ब्यक्ति जब यस यन्त्रमा केही बोल्छ तब यस यन्त्रले आवाजलाई तरङ्गमा परिवर्तन गराएर तार भित्रैबाट अर्को यस्तै यन्त्रलाई पठाउँछ । अर्को यन्त्रले फेरी त्यो तरङ्गलाई आवाजमा परिवर्तन गराएर सुन्ने ब्यक्तिलाई पठाउँछ ।
