Hampi is located in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It is an ancient village. It has a number of ruined temple complexes which belong to the erstwhile Vijayanagara Empire. The Virupaksha Temple is situated on the south bank of the River Tungabhadra. It belongs to the 7th-century. It is  near the revived Hampi Bazaar. There is a carved stone chariot in front of the huge Vittala Temple. The Daroji Bear Sanctuary which is situated in the Southeast of Hampi, is the home of the Indian sloth bear.
