Answer:

Solution;

It is given that, a is greater than b by one-sixth of a straight angle.

=> a = b + (1/6) of Straight angle

=> a = b + (1/6)•180°

=> a = b + 180°/6

=> a = b + 30° ----------(1)

Also, angles a and b lies on the same straight lines, hence angles a and b forms linear pair.

=> a + b = 180°------(2)

Now, putting the value a = b + 30° in eq-(2) , we get;

=> a + b = 180°

=> b + 30°+ b = 180°

=> 2b = 180° - 30°

=> 2b = 150°

=> b = 150°/2

=> b = 75°

Now, putting the value b = 75° in eq-(1)

we get;

=> a = b + 30°

=> a = 75° + 30°

=> a = 105°

Hence, the required values are:

a = 105°

b = 75°
