Smooth ER-

this is called smooth because of the absence

of RIBOSOMES.. so thus is the site where lipid

synthesis will take place..

steroid hormones and others are synthesized here

It is rough because if the presence of RIBOSOMES.

As we kniw RIBOSOMES are considered the site of

protein synthesis so this is the place where different

tyoe of proteins like secretary proteins or enzymes are formed

It is a organelle which is found in the eukaryotic cells which forms the interconnected network of flattened and cisternae.

It is absent in the red blood cells.

There are basically two types of Endoplasmic reticulum and these are :

● Rough endoplasmic reticulum.

● Smooth endoplasmic reticulum.

The outer face of the rough endoplasmic reticulum is studded with ribosomes.

whereas the other kind of endoplasmic reticulum which is smooth endoplasmic reticulum lacks ribosomes.
