Step-by-step explanation:

There are two basic fundamentals you have to remember.

1) Any number multipiled or divided be 1 remains unchanged.

Egs:

      3*1=3\\2x*1=2x\\10a*1=10a\\ 13x^2 * 1 = 13x^2

2) Any number subracted from, or added to 0 remains unchanged.

Egs:

     x-0 = x\\2-0 = 2\\x^2-0 = x^2\\3x + 0 = 3x\\10a + 0 = 10a

So, in the given equation, where 1x^2 + (-0) + \sqrt{5} is given, becomes x^2 + \sqrt5.

Hope it helps.
