We know that :

 A^{-1} = \frac{1}{det(A)} * adj(A)

Now,

Given Matrix A = 3   1

                            4    7


det (A) = 3 * 7 - 1 * 4

            = 17.


adj (A) = 7   -1

              -4   3


Therefore  A^-1  =   [tex] \frac{1}{17} [/tex]   7    - 1

                                       4      3.
