SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka adopted a policy of majoritarian government and imposed it's will on the Tamil srilankans.
The Sinhala were majority in number than the Tamil.
They adopted remunerative policies that favoured sinhalas for university position and jobs.
An act was enacted to protect and foster Buddhism.
Tamil Srilankans felt that no political party was sensitive to their language and culture.
So,they demanded an independent Tamil eelam state in the north and western part of the country.

BELGIUM
Belgium government amended it's constitution three times to accommodate it's diversity.

Belgium has an ethnic diversity of Dutch speaking,German speaking and French speaking people.

Dutch speaking people were majority in the state whereas French speaking people were majority in the capital city Brussels.German speaking people accounted for 1%.

The no of Dutch speaking people and French speaking people will be equal in the Central government.

Capital city,Brussels has a separate government.French people accepted equal representation in capital city, Brussels because the Dutch accepted in central government .

Some special laws need the support of majority both the people. Thus, any laws cannot be taken unilaterally.

They formed local community government which has the power to take decision on education, linguistic etc.
