  • Ten men can paint the second floor of a building in 3 days

 \:\:

F i n d

 \:\:

  • Days in which 6 men can complete the same work

 \:\:

S o l u t i o n

 \:\:

  • Let 6 men can complete the work in 'd' days

 \:\:

As the work will remain in both the cases i.e with 10 men & 6 men hence we will calculate the total work required to complete the work

 \:\:

Case I [ With 10 men ]

 \:\:

➠ Total work = Men × Days

 \:\:

  • Men = 10

  • Days = 3

 \:\:

: ➜ Total work = 10 × 3

 \:\:

: ➜ Total work = 30 units

 \:\:

Case II [ With 6 men ]

 \:\:

➠ Total work = Men × Days

 \:\:

  • Men = 6

  • Days = d

 \:\:

: ➜ Total work = 6 × d

 \:\:

: ➜ Total work = 6d units

 \:\:

As discussed above the total work will remain same as in both cases as the work was same

 \:\:

Thus ,

 \:\:

: ➜ 30 = 6d

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf d = \dfrac { 30 } { 6 }

 \:\:

: : ➨ d = 5 days

 \:\:

  • Hence 6 men can complete the work in 5 days
