Answer:

Given :-

Ten year ago ,father was 12 times as old as his son 10 years hence, he will be twice as old as his son will be

To Find :-

Present ages

Solution :-

Let us assume that

Ten years ago

Age of son = a

Age of father = 12a

Present age will be

Age of son = a + 10

Age of father = 12a + 10

12a + 10 + 10 = 2(a + 10 + 10)

12a + 20 = 2(a + 20)

12a + 20 = 2a + 40

12a - 2a = 40 - 20

10a = 20

a = 20/10

a = 2

Therefore,

Present age of son = a + 10

Present age of son = 2 + 10

Present age of son = 12 years

Present age of father = 12a + 10

Present age of father = 12(2) + 10

Present age of father = 24 + 10

Present age of father = 34 years
