Ten years later, A will be twice as old as B and five years ago , A was three times as old as B . What are the present ages of A and B ?

By the given condition we get :

2(y+10)=x ..............(I)

3(y-5)=x..................(II)

Now on equating the above two equations we get:

2(y+10)=3(y+5)

2y+20=3y+15

-(y)=-(5)

y = 5 {y = age of B = 5 yrs}

Now on replacing the value of y in equation (I) we get::

x=2(5+10)=2(15)=30. { x=age of A= 30 yrs}
