Erythromycin is a narrow-spectrum drug because it can't get into Gram-negative bacteria. The same goes for the oxazolidinones; they only work against Gram-positive bacteria. Finally, most of the protein synthesis inhibitors are bacteriostatic, but a few can be bactericidal at certain concentrations.
