Step-by-step explanation:

 \bf{ \bold{ question \:  : -  }}

  5x + 8y = 34.......(1) \\ \\ 7x + 2y = 20........(2) \\ \\ Find \:  x \:  and \:  y

Solution:-

 \implies{ \bf{5x = 34 - 8y}}

 \implies{ \bf{x =  \frac{34 - 8y}{5}...........(3)}}

Puting x value in Equation (2)

{ \bf{7x + 2y = 20}}

 \implies{ \bf{ 7 \times  \frac{34 - 8y}{5}  + 2y = 20}}

 \implies{ \bf{ \frac{238 - 56y}{5}  + 2y = 20}}

 \implies{ \bf{ \frac{238 - 56y + 10y}{5} = 20}}

 \implies{ \bf{ \frac{238 - 46y}{5} = 20}}

 \implies{ \bf{238 - 46y = 100}}

 \implies {\bf{ - 46y = 100 - 238}}

 \implies{ \bf{  - 46y =  - 138}}

 \implies{ \bf {y =  \frac{138}{46}}}

y = 3

Puting yvalue in Equation (3)

 \bf{ x = \frac{34 - 8y}{5}}

=> x = 34-8×3/5

=>x = 34-24/5

=> x = 10/5

=> x = 2
