The compunds made up of hydrogen and carbon only are known as Hydrocarbon.
Hydrogen+carbon= Hydrocarbon.
The most important natural source of hydrocarbon is petroleum.
There are two types of Hydrocarbon-
1. Saturated hydrocarbon.
2. Unsaturated hydrocarbon.

saturated hydrocarbon are connected by single bond.They are also known as Alkanes.


Unsaturated hydrocarbon are connected by double or triple bond.Double bond - Alkenes and Triple bond - Alkynes.
