To solve such question, go step by step.

First multiply the first two expressions in the bracket i.e.     

(a+1)(a-1) =  (a^2 - 1)

now the expression is   (a^2 - 1)(a^2 + 1)

So now multiplying the two expression we get:  

(a^4 - 1)



Foot notes :  a^2 - 1   =     (a-1)(a+1)     (Identity)
