Mathematical Formulation of Second Law of Motion:

∝ m × (v – u). The unit of force is kg m s-2 or newton, which has the symbol N. The second law of motion gives us a method to measure the force acting on an object as a product of its mass and acceleration.

Hope it helps!!

★ Question Given :

  • ➦ Give mathematical formula of second law of motion ?

★ Required Solution :

  • ➦ F = m × a

✰ Derivation Needed :

  • The rate of change in momentum = m × (v - u) / t

✰ According to Newton second law :

  • ⇢ F ∝ m (v - u) / t

  • ⇢ F = km (v-u) / t

  • ⇢F = kma -------- eq (1)

[ Here a is (v-u) / t ]

✰ Where :

  • ⇢ a = acceleration

  • ⇢ k = constant proportionality

✰ Putting m = 1kg , a = 1 m/s-² :

  • ⇢ F = k × 1 × 1

  • ⇢ 1N = K × 1 × 1

  • ⇢ K = 1

★ From Equation (1) :

  • ➦ F = ma

  • [ This expression represent 2nd law of motion ]
