The differences are as follows:

1. Rats are medium-sized to large rodents having long thin tails with a greater weight whereas mice are small sized rodents with a long tail and weigh between 12 to 30 grams.

2. In case of a mouse, the snouts are triangular in shape and have long whiskers. The snout of a rat is blunter than that of a mouse.

3. Rats have long tails which are mostly scaly and hairless, whereas mice have large and floppy ears and also long, thin, and hairy tails.
