Logical Reasoning Question:

Police had arrested four criminals P, Q, R and S.

→ P says Q committed crime
→ Q says S committed crime
→ R says “I didn’t do it”
→ S says what Q said about me is false.

Explanation:

We'll consider each person to be the criminal.

  • If P is the criminal, P is lying, Q is lying, R is saying the truth, and S is saying the truth.
  • If Q is the criminal, P is telling the truth, Q is lying, R and S both are telling the truth.
  • If S is the criminal, P and S are lying while Q and R are saying the truth.
  • But, if R is the criminal, P, Q and R are all lying, while only S speaks the truth.

Since it is already given that only one of the four statements is correct, it is only logical that R is the criminal.
