My dear Arjun,

You will be glad to know that i and some of my friends will have a picnic 15th December. Diamond Harbour was selected for the venue. we reached there by a bus at about 9 a.m.

A site near the embankment was selected. It was cleared, after which we had our breakfast of cakes and sweets carried from Kolkata. Then began the work for preparing the meals which consisted of rich with a vegetarian course and meat. Ajay and Prabir, whom you know, took the charge upon themselves, the others merely helped them when necessary. Gradually came many other parties until by there was scarcely any vacant spot near about. In fact, the entire space presented a charming scene of joyous activities combined with loud laughter, animated talks and attempts at music.

The meals were ready by 2 p.m. They were well-cooked ans we relished them greatly, thanks to the friends who had prepared them. After some rest we took a stroll along the embankment and ended by a short boat trip on the Ganga. At about 5 p.m. we entered the bus again for the return journey and reached home in about two hours.

Thus ended the picnic which had kept us in such excitement for a whole week.
