Given:

x = a and y = b is the solution of the equations

To Find:

  • Value of a & b

Then,

  • a + b = 5 ... (1)
  • 2a - 3b = 4 ... (2)
  • (1) × (3) + (2) ⟹

  • 3a + 3b = 15
  • 2a - 3b = 4

  • ⟹ 5a = 19
  • a = 19/5

Put a = 19/5 in (1), we get:

  •  \frac{19}{5}  + b = 5

  • b =  5 -  \frac{19}{5}

  • b =  \frac{25 - 19}{5}

 \boxed{\bf{b =  \frac{6}{5}}}

The Value of a = 19/5

And Value of b= 6/5

Step-by-step explanation:

5 ... (1)

2a - 3b = 4 ... (2)

(1) x (3) + (2) =

3a + 3b = 15

• 2a - 3b = 4

5a = 19 =

• a = 19/5

Put a = 19/5 in (1), we get:

19 5 +b = 5

=b=5 - 19 5

b = 25-19 5

6

5

b =

The Value of a = 19/5

And Value of b= 6/5
