Q.1 why Valli loved staying outdoors.

Ans. Valli was a curious eight year old child, who wanted to know and experience the things that lay beyond her familiar reach. She loved staying outdoors, because it helped her to observe the happenings on the streets which in turn provided fodder for her imagination.

Q.2 which sight she loved the most.

Ans. As that OALD link says, the most is often used for the first meaning - but informally, the is often omitted. It's never used with the second meaning.

Q.3 how Valli found out details about the bus ride.

Ans. Valli found out that the bus journey to the town took 45 minutes and the two-way fare was 60 paise. She found out these details by listening carefully to the conversations between her neighbours and people who regularly used the bus and asked a few questions here and there.

Q.4 how the bus looked.

Ans. Valli had planned that she only wanted to ride on the bus. She would spend thirty paise on her fare, go to the town and then come back by the same bus before her mother woke up. She didn’t 1 time or money to go to see the town.

_____________________________

Q.5 what made Valli clap her hands.

Ans. Vali witnessed a strange sight from the bus.

She saw a young and beautiful cow running in a high speed with her tail high up in the air in the middle of the road just beside the bus she was sitting in.

This was an extremely unusual sight for any spectator as one can hardly find a cow running and hence Vali clapped her hands out of joy.

Q.6 whether Valli was impressed by the town.

Ans. Valli tried to listen to her neighbours to get the desired information about the bus journey. She would ask some discrete questions to get more information. She got information about distance of the town from her village and the total journey time it usually took.

Q.7 whether the conductor liked Valli as a passenger in spite of making fun of her.

Ans. The conductor called Valli ‘madam’ because she behaved like a woman. She declined his help and was very quick in her answers to the conductor’s questions. This made the conductor call him madam.

Q.8 what Valli's mother was doing when she returned.

Ans. When Valli entered the house, she found her mother awake and talking to her aunt from South Street, as can be inferred from the line 'When she ------ South Street.'
