Question :

First equation of motion?

Answer :

The first equation of motion is : v = u + at. It gives the velocity acquired by a body in time, t.

Considered a body having initial velocity 'u'. Suppose it is subjected to a uniform acceleration 'a' so that after time its final velocity becomes 'v'. Now from the definition of acceleration we know that :

acceleration \: = \frac{change \: in \: velocity}{time \: taken} \\ or \\ \frac{final \: velocity \: - initial \: velocity}{time \: taken} \\ so \: \: a = \frac{v - u}{t} \\ at \: = v - u \\ and \: \: v = u + at \\ v = final \: velocity \: of \: body \\ u = initial \: velocity \: of \: body \: \\ a = acceleration \\ t = time \: taken
