Question:-
Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4 m more than its width, is 36 m. Find the dimensions of the garden.
Given:-
- Length of the garden= 4m more than the width.
- Perimeter= 36 m
To find:-
- Breadth of the garden
Solution:-
To find the perimeter:- 2(l+b)
Half the perimeter:-
36m= (l+b)
Let us suppose breadth as x
So as length is 4 m more than breadth, length would be 4x
Perimeter:- Multiplying 2× half perimeter
2×36
72m
Perimeter:- 2(l+b)
Putting respective values
72=2(4+x+x)
72÷2= 4+2x
36= 4+2x
36-4=2x
32= 2x
32÷2= x
x=16
________________________________
So we get the breadth i.e. 16m
Length:- x+4= 16+4= 20m
