Let the total number of votes polled = x.

Given that the opponent got 6800 votes which represented 34% of total votes.

= > 34% of x = 6800

= > (34/100) * x = 6800

= > 34x = 680000

= > x = 20000.

So, the number of votes polled = 20000.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Given that winning candidate got 48% of the total votes.

= > 48% of 20000

= > 48/100 * 20000

= > 9600.

So, the winning candidate got 9600 votes.

Therefore,

The winning margin = 9600 - 6800

= > 2800.

Hope it helps!

 \bold {\huge {Solutions :-}}

We have,

Winning candidate got 48 % of total vote.

Opponent got 6800 votes which represented 34% of total votes.

Now,

Let the total vote be x

A/q

34% of x = 6800

=> 34/100x = 6800

=> 34x = (6800×100)

=> x = 680000/34 = 20000

Hence,

1). Total vote = 20000

Winning candidate votes = 48 % of total
= 48/100 × 20000
= 9600

And,
2). Winning margin =
9600 - 6800 = 2800
