Question : Two cubes, each of side 4 cm are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the resulting cuboid?

Answer : After joining the cubes a cuboid will be formed of dimensions

4×8×4

Hence, Surface Area of Cuboid is =2(4×8)+2(8×4)+2(4×4)=160 cm

\large{\sf{\underline{\underline\orange{Solution!!}}}}

Given that,

  • Two cubes, each of side 4 cm are joined end to end.

  • We have to find the surface area of the resulting cuboid.

Now,

➴  height = h = 4 cm

➴  breadth = b = 4 cm

➴  length = l = 8 cm

Total Surface area (TSA) of the cuboid :-

↦  2(lb + bh + hl)

↦  2(8 × 4 + 4 × 4 + 4 × 8)

↦  2(32 + 16 + 32)

↦  2(48 + 32)

↦  2 × 80

↦  160 cm²

Hence,

❂  Surface area of cuboid = 160 cm².
