When the final position and initial position of the object is same then displacement is said to be zero for example an object/body moving in a circular motion when reaches the starting point after completing one complete cirecle is said to have zero displacement.

For example, a car travels from point A to B and then comes back. Suppose AB=5m. In this case, distance travelled is 10m, while the displacement is zero.

What is zero displacement? Give example.

\huge{\mathfrak{\purple{Answer}}}

When a body move on any point and come back to his starting point then his displacement is zero At that point, the displacement is zero, but it moves with the same average velocity, and the particle possesses non zero average velocity with literally zero displacement.

\huge{\mathfrak{\purple{Example}}}

  1. if you travel from your home to school and back to home, distance would be twice the distance between your home and school
  2. 1 circle of motion has distance 2πR but 0 displacements.
